Who is a good candidate?
Generally, anyone who struggles with mental health disorders or chronic pain is a good candidate for ketamine infusion therapy. We do require that our mental health patients have a confirmed diagnosis from a mental provider. If you have not been seen by a mental health provider, we can provide an initial consultation with one for you.
Call our office today to schedule a free initial consultation and thorough medical history to determine if you are a candidate for treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
The average course of ketamine infusion therapy consists of six treatment sessions or a “loading series” over the course of 2-3 weeks. However, depending on your condition and symptoms, you may need additional treatments. Some patients benefit from “booster” infusions after their initial loading series to maintain their success.
All treatment plans are customized to the patient from the infusion schedule to dosage to ensure optimal results.
Results
Some patients may begin to feel relief within hours after their first infusion. However, many patients report an improvement in mood and general well-being after the first loading series.
The length of your results will vary for each individual and can last from several weeks to months. Following your initial series of treatments, we can work with you to begin a maintenance program if necessary.
What To Expect
We will provide extensive education and preparation prior to your first infusion. Ketamine is administered intravenously over a period of 40 minutes for our mental health patients and 3-4 hours for our chronic pain patients. You will remain awake during treatment but in a state of extreme relaxation. Your vital signs will be monitored during treatment for your safety and comfort. Patients sometimes report an out of body or “dissociative” experience. These feelings fade within 20 minutes after treatment. Some side effects of treatment include dizziness, blurred vision, and nausea.
Do I need to stop my medication to receive ketamine infusion therapy?
If you have any questions regarding your treatment and medication, please call our office. Some anti-anxiety medications do interfere with ketamine infusions, and we may instruct you to temporarily hold them before an infusion. Do not change or stop taking any medication without first consulting your physician or mental health provider.
Is Ketamine FDA approved?
Using Ketamine intravenously to treat mental health conditions and pain disorders is considered off-label use. In 2019, a nasal form of Ketamine (Spravato) was approved for use in treatment-resistant depression and was later approved to treat suicidal ideation and behavior in adults with major depression. However, at Revival Wellness and Ketamine we only provide intravenous Ketamine infusions.
What is the difference between Ketamine IV infusions and intra-nasal Ketamine (Spravato)?
IV Ketamine infusions enters your bloodstream directly, allowing your dosage to be carefully titrated and adjusted based on your symptoms and experience.
Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance. Intravenous Ketamine infusions are usually not covered by insurance plans. We do, however, accept FSA and HSA accounts. If requested, we can provide you with a superbill that includes billing codes and you can independently contact your insurance carrier to see if you are eligible for some reimbursement.
